Redmond, WA —The City of Redmond has published a redesigned print and digital version of Redmond 2030, the City’s Comprehensive Plan, with a forward-looking design to illustrate the community’s 20-year vision of the future. Redmond 2030 is available at
www.redmond.gov/compplan
“The digital version looks and functions like a 21st century document, consistent with Redmond’s identity as an innovative, tech city", states Pete Sullivan, a Senior Planner in the City’s Planning Department. “The goal was not only to improve the document’s appearance, but make it more user-friendly", added Sullivan. The digital version includes internal links for improved navigation, and is linked to external references such as the Zoning Code citations. In addition, text is searchable, and key information such as maps and tables are now easier to locate. The file format is consistent with most major browsers and mobile devices.
The City’s former poet Laureate (2010-2012), Rebecca Meredith provided poetry that is woven throughout the Comprehensive Plan sections.
The Comprehensive Plan describes Redmond’s vision, which is to realize the City’s future as a place with vibrant urban centers in Downtown and Overlake, improved neighborhood connections, and high quality services delivered in partnership with the community.
Users of the Comprehensive Plan will be able to read more about Redmond’s vision and goals with regard to Land Use, Transportation, Parks, Recreation and the Arts, Housing, the Environment and other topics. The Comprehensive Plan reflects the long-term values and aspirations of the community as a whole and guides the physical development and enhancement of the city.
The City Council adopted the 2010-2011 update to Redmond’s Comprehensive Plan last December, as the first City in Washington to have completed this update. Council’s action culminated a two-year process that included participation by many in the community.
