Redmond, WA –  The City of Redmond is home to the DigiPen Institute of Technology, an international pioneer and world leader in the teaching and development of digital interactive media. DigiPen and the One Redmond Initiative, partnered to develop an animated video that celebrates the City’s future vision, its spirit of creativity and innovation in developing public-private partnerships. Entitled: Redmond, Grow With Us, the 30-second video uses cutting edge animation created by a team of 11 fourth-year students from DigiPen Institute of Technology’s Singapore campus during a 3 week stay in Redmond. “We are very excited to be able to partner with DigiPen on this promotional video which will become a major component of One Redmond’s business development initiative,” states Mayor John Marchione.

Raymond Yan, Senior Vice President with DigiPen Institute of Technology states, “With Redmond celebrating its centennial this year, and with the efforts of One Redmond, we felt this would be a very interesting challenge to have our students from Singapore understand and visualize the core essence of what Redmond is both today and in the future.” He adds, “The students found the experience very rewarding and hope that business community and residents of Redmond enjoy the outcome of their efforts.”

Redmond has the first Innovation Partnership Zone in the State of Washington focused on interactive media and innovative digital arts. One Redmond is a highly visible public private partnership recognized for its leadership in the development of strategies, programs, and community events that assure economic and social vitality to encourage sustainability in Redmond. The One Redmond initiative brings the City of Redmond, the Greater Redmond Chamber of Commerce, the Redmond Economic Development Alliance, and Realize Redmond in closer collaboration.

The video debuted at the June 5th City Council meeting and will be available to view at the One Redmond website: http://oneredmond.org/
