Redmond, WA –
Beginning the week of June 9th, spot repair work will begin along Redmond Way as part of the Redmond Way Overlay maintenance project. The Redmond Way Overlay project will repair and resurface approximately 1.8 miles of worn and damaged pavement running east of 132nd Ave NE to Bear Creek Parkway.
Spot construction work includes improvements to sub-surface drainage systems and relocation of underground utilities. Curbing will also be brought up to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. This work will affect both north and south lanes for the next 4-6 weeks. In addition, traffic speeds will be reduced from 40mph to 30mph during construction hours to promote safety.
Construction will be limited to weekday, non-peak traffic hours, beginning after 9:30am in the eastbound direction and ending after 3:30pm in the westbound direction. Once spot construction is completed (mid-late July), grinding and resurfacing will commence over three weekends to complete the project, weather permitting. Signage, flaggers, City Twitter alerts, alternate route postings and on-site police support will be used to keep traffic moving as smoothly as possible. Motorists are urged to use caution when traveling Redmond Way during construction hours.
This work is the first significant maintenance project for this stretch of Redmond Way since 1994. The City assumed control of the road from the State in 2010.
For the latest traffic and construction alerts consider signing up for the Construction Twitter updates at
http://twitter.com/RedmondConst. Significant lane closures and construction activity will be posted on AM1650, Redmond Community radio as well as on the
City’s homepage.
