Redmond, WA –

Mayor John Marchione recently announced changes in the Public Works and Planning Departments to enhance alignment with the City’s vision and customer service goals. The City’s long-term vision and customer service standards have both been key priorities for Marchione since being elected Mayor in 2008. To that end, the Mayor implemented the transfer of transportation planning and development review from the Public Works Department to the Planning Department.
“These changes allow us to more efficiently meet the transportation needs of our community and provide more seamless customer service in our permit and inspections process” said Mayor Marchione.
“Traffic and growth remain top priorities among our citizens. By combining the efforts of our Public Works and Planning transportation staff, we will better align our resources with our City’s long-term land use vision. In addition, citizens will benefit from a true ‘one-stop-shop’ when it comes to development review and permitting. This allows for faster response times throughout a project, from initial application to final inspection.”
These changes reflect the City’s dedication to identify and implement process improvements throughout the organization, with emphasis on customer service and the long-term city vision. As part of that effort, the Mayor has appointed former Redmond Fire Chief Tim Fuller to serve as interim Public Works Director following the retirement of former Director Bill Campbell. Fuller previously acted as interim Police Chief in Redmond and was instrumental in guiding the department as it transitioned from the administration of former chief Steve Harris to current chief Ron Gibson. “Tim Fuller brings proven leadership and an ability to guide organizational change that will be vital as we move through the recruitment process” said Marchione. “He will work closely with current Public Works managers to identify and foster continued improvements in service delivery and customer satisfaction. We’re very pleased to welcome him back to Redmond.”
The changes became effective May 1, 2012.
