THIS IS A TEST -- FOR DRILL PURPOSES ONLY
The Puget Sound region was hit with a magnitude 6.7 earthquake shortly after noon today. As with many jurisdictions, the city of Redmond was affected and has opened its Emergency Coordination Center (ECC) for response.
As of this writing, City fire, police and public works crews have mobilized to assess damage and respond to life and safety emergencies.
Redmond residents are advised to stay in their homes unless damaged. If that is the case, move to a safe location outside. Aftershocks can strike suddenly and without warning. During an earthquake or aftershock, take cover under a piece of heavy furniture or against an inside wall and hold on. If you are outdoors, move into the open and away from buildings, streetlights and utility wires.
Emergency update information will be available as soon as possible on the City’s website – www.redmond.gov, Redmond City Television (Comcast channel 21 or Frontier 34), on Twitter @CityofRedmond #redmondalert and on the radio (within Redmond city limits) at AM 1650.
Do not use the emergency 911 line unless you have a life threatening emergency to report.
