In July 2015, the South Detention Vault was completed on time and under budget.  Overlake Village is now home to the largest stormwater detention vault in Washington State, capable of detaining millions of gallons of stormwater runoff.  It might be hard to believe all that is happening beneath the parking lot!

The vault has a total volume of 20 acre feet (about 6.6 million gallons). Park facilities will be constructed on top of the stormwater vault in the future. In the meantime, the property owner will use the area over the vault for parking.

The South Detention Vault is the first of three regional stormwater facilities to be constructed in Overlake Village.  It detains stormwater that has been treated locally within public rights-of-way and private development areas.
