The City is working on many fronts to address the issue of global warming. Initiatives include:
Energy Conservation—we have an upcoming ESCO (define) contract for building energy efficiency.
Greenhouse gas tracking—we track the carbon footprints of our community and within our government operations.
12 electric vehicle charging stations are available throughout the city so that drivers with electric cars can easily “fuel up.” In addition, new homes under construction in Redmond are being built to easily accommodate the addition of EV charging in the garage.
Ten City vehicles have been outfitted with reusable conversion kits and are using a new alternative fuel (propane autogas) in addition to unleaded fuel. The result is lower fuel costs and reduced maintenance and emissions.
