The first phase of the project provided an opportunity for the public to participate in the planning process by identifying needs and desires in their neighborhood park. The first public meetings occurred in 2009, when citizens came together and brainstormed new and different concepts to revitalize the parks.
Design has been completed for Spiritbrook Park. Construction began in late summer 2011 and will be complete by early summer 2012. Design and construction phases will proceed for Westside Park when funding is available.
In recent years, the Parks and Recreation Department has been renovating existing parks to revitalize use in the parks. Spiritbrook and Westside Parks are older neighborhood parks in Redmond that have been identified on our Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) for renovation. Both of the parks have outdated play equipment, drainage issues in the fields and play courts that required resurfacing.
