Rack Storage

What is it?

You need a Rack Storage Permit to install storage racks 5 ft. 9 in. or greater in height in an existing commercial building. An examples of a typical project would be the installation of warehouse storage racking or retail shelves over 5 ft. 9 in. in height in an existing building.

How Much Does it Cost?

Fees are based on the value of your project. A plan review fee is due when you submit your plans and the rest is due when you pick up your permit. How Long Does It Take?

In general, the initial review of a Rack Storage Permit application is finished in 21 calendar days from submittal. Issuance of the permit depends on how project complexity and any necessary corrections.

Steps to Get Your Permit

1. Research
Get your property information. Find property information to help you plan your project. Property Viewer Interactive Map. Determine restrictions to your project. Research our codes to determine what occupancies are allowed in the building and what land uses are allowed in that zoning area. Redmond Zoning Code
Prepare your plans. Plans should be electronic and should be to scale and easy to read.

2. Submit Plans

Tips for a Successful Intake Appointment  

Plan Reviews fees are due at permit application. The fees are calculated based on your project value.
3. Plan Review
For plan review projects, your project reviewer will send you a correction letter if changes are needed. Make corrections and resubmit your plans. The project reviewer will instruct you on how to upload new plans through the E-Track portal.
4. Get Permit and Pay Final Fees
You will be contacted when your plans are approved. Once outstanding fees are paid, you can pick up your permit and approved plans at the Development Service Center with a blank USB drive or log into the E-Track Portal. You can print your permit and approved plans.

5. Schedule Inspection

Request an inspection.  See the E-Track Portal page to schedule an inspection online or call 425-556-2435 and use the IVR pin number on the permit to request an inspection. A Final inspection needs to be requested and approved to complete the inspection process.
6. Complete Project
Final inspections and close your permit. Your permit information will be archived in our electronic document management system.
