Suite for Redmond, a Season of Wonders culminates on August 21st, the final evening of Redmond’s new Night Market So Bazaar, with Nocturne for Rookery. As twilight arrives, we’ll process from the Night Market, along Bear Creek Parkway and into the stand of noble Douglas Firs where the great blue herons once nested.

Join the menagerie of luminous Grandmother Owls, Alchemist Cats and Moon-Drunk Rabbits in a primordial evergreen rite, celebrating nature in an urban environment, reminding all of the innate, enduring majesty of these regal trees.

Bring your loved ones, a blanket, and a humble, homemade or found gift, wrapped in white, ready for sharing.

Suite for Redmond, a Season of Wonders is created by Redmond’s new Artist-in-Residence, Lucia Neare, who brings her company of wonder-makers to Redmond for this season of sweet delights. The series of works is designed to create one-of-a-kind celebratory experiences that foster local connections and a spirit of warmth in Redmond. Suite for Redmond, a Season of Wonders is presented by City of Redmond Arts Program, with additional support from 4Culture and the Office of Arts and Cultural Affairs/Seattle City Light. Lucia Neare is a 21st century pioneer of theater in public spaces. An accomplished soprano, she directs, designs, sculpts, and produces. A creative force in the Northwest and advocate for cultural vibrancy and egalitarian accessibility, Neare’s large-scale site-specific theatrical works ignite civic imagination, drawing tens of thousands into multi-sensory dreamworlds.

Since 2008, Neare has created dozens of free site-specific works in Western Washington. Her best-known creation, the yearlong Lullaby Moon, is the second in her opus, the projected triptych, A Rose Triumphant. Lullaby Moon transformed square miles of Seattle’s urban landscape into celestial dreamscapes. The first in her triptych, the now-legendary Ooo La La flooded downtown Seattle with unadulterated whimsy on May Day of 2008. Other recent works of place-making include, Lullaby for Dottie Parker Park (2011) reuniting thousands with a forgotten urban grove in Burien, Washington; the 2012 cycle “Professor Pomme’s Pomp and Pastry Paradoxicals,” in Redmond, Washington.

Neare has received awards and commissions from organizations including Seattle Art Museum, Artist Trust/Washington State Arts Commission, the Office of Arts and Cultural Affairs, Seattle City Light, Seattle Arts Commission, and Seattle Parks and Recreation. She receives seminal support from 4Culture, the Northwest’s preeminent arts-funding agency.

In 2012 Neare was Artist-in-Residence in the city of Seattle and the city of Redmond, a position she now holds. In 2012, Seattle’s Mayor honored Lucia Neare with the coveted Mayor’s Arts Award.
