Overlake Village Station Infiltration Vault
The City is planning on constructing a below-ground large stormwater infiltration vault in the Overlake Village neighborhood, near SR520. The project is proposed for construction by Sound Transit as part of their Overlake Village Station, scheduled to open in 2023.

This new underground vault will be a regional stormwater facility designed to capture, treat, and infiltrate stormwater into the ground, so that the flow emerges in nearby creeks as cold, clean base flow. This will dramatically improve erosion, flooding, and water quality in those streams. The entire vault will be located beneath a new “plaza street” in front of the proposed new light rail station. Sound Transit’s plaza street will initially be configured as a one-way street with a turnaround, but is proposed to connect to an extended 151st Street as new development occurs over many years.

Project Update: January 2014

The City is currently negotiating with Sound Transit to include the proposed vault in their design/build package that will ultimately build the new light rail system and train station.
