Woodbridge residents may notice a more attractive evening glow radiating
along NE 65 and NE 68 Street and on 191 Avenue NE. The City of
Redmond's Traffic Operations Division is testing a new, more efficient
streetlight. Besides releasing light that looks more like day, the
streetlights have a longer lifespan for reduced maintenance costs, and
may use less electricity.
We want to hear what you think about these
streetlights. Submit your comments via this brief online survey.
Traffic Operations staff will evaluate the survey results, and rank the
fixtures by lighting performance, energy consumption, and maintenance
experience to determine which best suits the street lighting needs of
Redmond.

160 Avenue NE north of NE 90 Street has recently become
a public street. Following several years of
ownership by private developers, the City now has legal
jurisidiction and street maintenance responsibilities
for this segment of 160 Avenue NE.
Area residents are parking along 160 Avenue NE, using
the existing outside travel lanes to do so. This
is not of significant concern at current traffic
volumes, but it is in violation of Redmond Municipal
Code Section 10.52.100 Obstructing Traffic: "No person
shall park any vehicle upon any street in a manner in
which obstructs or otherwise interferes with traffic
upon the traveled portion of the roadway."
The City must now either re-establish the outside travel
lanes and prohibit parking along 160 Avenue NE, or
stripe 160 Avenue NE to accommodate parking and bike
lanes on both sides of the street. Providing
parking and bike lanes on 160 Avenue NE is the City's
preferred alternative and consistent with the City
Council-approved policies in Redmond's
Transportation Master Plan (see page 12 of Section
5D. Thoroughfare Plan), however a few area residents
have expressed concern about this option.
Before we make any changes, we want to hear from you.
You can indicate your preference for parking or no
parking on 160 Avenue NE through this survey:

160 Avenue NE Parking/No Parking Survey.
Your input is welcome until September 3, after which
time the survey results will be evaluated to determine
if 160 Avenue NE will be striped for parking or signed
for no parking.
