A New Development Code for the Future of Redmond

The Redmond Zoning Code (RZC) is one of the primary tools the City of Redmond uses to regulate development. All existing and new development in the City must be consistent with the requirements of the RZC. These requirements range from the land uses allowed on a property, (e.g., single family home, apartment, retail, office building) to building setbacks from the street and adjacent properties, to the amount of parking required on a site.
While the code has been modified over the years, it has not received a thorough rewrite since 1978. The goal of the rewrite is to create a document that is more understandable, simpler to administer, and more effectively achieves the goals and policies of the Comprehensive Plan.
