Public Service

Mayor Marchione was elected in November 2007 to a four year term that began on January 1, 2008. In 2003, Marchione was elected to the Redmond City Council, where he chaired the Planning and Public Works Committee and the Finance and Public Administration Committee.
Mayor Marchione represents the City of Redmond on the Cascade Water Alliance Board to ensure a drinking water supply for Redmond for the next 50 years and beyond. In addition, Mayor Marchione serves as a representative of the eastside of King County for the Sound Transit Board.
Management Experience
Mayor Marchione has over 20 years of professional experience in local government working on finance, capital projects, water quality and supply and economic development. He worked for the Cities of Snoqualmie, Kent and Federal Way, and the King County Budget Office. Most recently, Mayor Marchione served as the Director of Finance and Administration at Meydenbauer Center (Bellevue Convention Center) from 1997 to the end of 2007.
Community Involvement
John is very active in the community. Working with other community leaders, he helped found the Lake Washington Schools Foundation and served as Board member and Treasurer. Since 1997, he has managed, coached and umpired in Redmond West Little League and coached in the Lake Washington Youth Soccer Association.
Education

John earned a Master of Public Administration from the University of Washington (1987) and a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities from Seattle University (1985).
