Online Permit Services

For questions or problems with the Online Permit application for applicants that have a valid City of Redmond Business License please contact the Permit Technicians at 425-556-2473.

Contractors applying for online permits that do not have a current 2012 City of Redmond Business License will not receive the requested permit the next business day. Please contact the Business Licensing Department at 425-556-2193 for business license renewal.  

Please note that permits online are not issued the same day of application.

The City of Redmond now provides customers the convenience of buying permits online, checking the status of an existing permit application, scheduling inspections, and viewing permit request results and history.

Code News

The 2009 Washington State Energy Code will be implemented on January 1st, 2011. Make sure your Building and Mechanical permits are submitted and vested on or before December 31st , 2010. Please note that online permit applications need to be submitted on or before December 30th, 2010 to be vested under the 2006 Washington State Energy Code.

 

Buy Permits

If you are already a registered user of the purchasing system you can go directly to the login page. Online permit applications can be made by licensed contractors for a select group of permits that do not require plan review. To register and submit applications, a contractor must have a valid State Labor and Industries contractor’s license and City of Redmond business license. A separate permit is required for each structure and for each sign installed.

Permits available online

Commercial Electrical Permit - installation or alteration of electrical service, wiring or circuits in tenant improvements that do not require plan review.
Commercial Low Voltage Electrical Permit - installation of low voltage wiring (security, fire alarm, thermostat, etc.) in tenant improvements.
Commercial Re-roof Permits
Multi-Family Re-roof Permits
Residential Electrical Permit - installation or alteration of electrical service, wiring or circuits in existing and new single-family buildings.
Residential Low Voltage Electrical Permit - installation of low voltage wiring (security, thermostat, communication, etc.) in existing or new single-family buildings.
Residential Mechanical Permit - installation or alteration of fuel gas piping, heating or water heating equipment (all gas water heater replacements are done under a Mechanical Permit), ventilation and cooling equipment in existing or new single-family buildings.
Residential Plumbing Permit - installation or alteration of water or drainage piping, replacement of electric water heaters and associated fixtures in existing or new single-family buildings.
Residential Re-roof Permits
Sign Permits - installation or replacement of wall mounted or monument signs. The City of Redmond is now offering online plan review and permit issuance for sign permits; wall mounted or monument. If you meet all the contractor requirements and have the capability of uploading a site plan and detailed drawings via PDF, we can review your plans online and typically issue the permit within two weeks via email.

Permit Status

This online tool will allow you to check the status of a permit review request. It will show which staff member to call with questions, amounts due prior to issuance, and generally where you are in the plan review process. Have your permit number or address information to utilize this tool. 

Schedule Inspections

This component enables users to schedule inspections up to two weeks in advance, as well as view the inspection history of results in the permitting process.
